The New ALAC Website

I hope you like the new website.  I have set up a new menu system which should insure easy access to the various documents on this site.

Eventually, most all the editing and updating will be done by the various committee heads who are responsible for the content.   To that end,
the site has been set up a little differently than most.  The menuing system is entirely separate from the documents.  This will permit the addition and updating of documents without impacting navigation on the site.  All I will have to do is link the content to the menus, and see that nothing gets broken! (and fix it if it does).

Here are some of my ideas for the future:
  • I plan to introduce many new features such as online forms and entries, and online payments.  Most of these would be services for the members and for the public.
  • We now have a membership list on-line, accessible to members only.  I think this will prove to be a very convenient service to members.
  • We also have a "dog wanted" bulletin board.  Interested prospective owners fill out an online form, and their data can be accessed by members who have dogs/pups to place.
  • It would be useful to have a database of stud dog pedigrees, helpful to breeders looking to introduce some genetic diversity.
  • We now can offer members links to their private webpages, so long as those pages are non-commercial.
  • For those members who don't have websites, but would like to have a small webpage,  I hope to offer those members a page on the ALAC site for a reasonable fee to help cover the cost of maintaining this site.  You would have your choice of photos, background, colors, typography and 4 links to accessory pages.  A sample mock-up page can be seen at: http://www.lhasaapso.org/special/katie.html
Any comments or suggestions about services or features you would like to see on the new ALAC site are welcome.  Send me your comments at:  webmaster@lhasaapso.org
