ALAC Dedicates this 28-Year Collection - 1988 to 2015 -

of National Specialty Videos to

JAN BRUTON

Almost concurrently with the advent of home video cameras in the late 1980s, Jan and Larry Bruton began recording American Lhasa Apso Club National Specialty shows for personal and educational purposes.  Soon, club members began requesting copies for themselves and those who had not been able to attend the National.  In 1988, under Jan’s direction, they offered multiple edited versions of the National Specialty and Futurity videos at a modest cost to defray expenses, with 10% of proceeds going to the National Trophy Fund. 

 Later Jan suggested we take advantage of advances in technology to offer not only edited videos of the dog classes, but to also add voice-over narrative and more content about the people who attended the nationals.  Jan’s extraordinary ability to sit down with the catalog in hand and voice over the names of all the dogs in the show was a marvel, let alone that she could do it in one take.  And she continued to do it for over 20 years.

 This collection of over 85 two-hour videos is a tribute to the intense dedication, commitment, and passion that Jan poured into everything she did in her involvement with ALAC and to the Breed that she loved. It preserves for the future a quarter-century history of the dogs and people who comprise the American Lhasa Apso Club.  Please enjoy a walk through this compilation of ALAC history in Jan’s honor.
